2008, Architecture for a Comfort Class

Architecture for a Comfort Class is a series of collages that project an implausible architectonic future of plush surfaces and luxury design materials. These imagined structural spaces are constructed from the signifiers of relaxation, simplicity, and accumulation proposed in design magazines. Their floating, spaceship-like forms allude not to the free-floating nature of their signifier-components, but to the forever-postponed reality of equitably experienced comfort. Technology and architecture, while always promising a better world for all, seem to only deliver more seductive imagery and unattainable fantasy as a cover for exclusivity.
